CFB North Bay RT/SAOC Modernization Project1
CFB North Bay is Canada's primary NORAD site, with responsibility for monitoring the Canadian NORAD sector, namely the Air Defense Identification Zone surrounding Canada. This $300,000,000 total project was to bring the air defense mechanism for North American airspace from its present location of 600 feet underground to a new, above-ground, design/build structure. Construction of the new above ground command center began in the spring of 2004 and was completed in the spring of 2006. NORAD operations moved above ground officially in the fall of 2006. Anfield’s design/build mechanical system met the requirements of full duplication for all equipment to ensure a constant, reliable mechanical system. The mechanical room was 20,000 square feet. Completed 2006 – bonded.
